What binary to text means
A binary to text conversion reads each binary value as a character code and maps it back to a character.
Use this when you have encoded character codes — from a dump, a protocol, or a puzzle — and want the original text. Values can be space-separated, or entered as a contiguous string that is split into 8-digit groups.

How to convert binary to text

Split the binary input
If values are already space-separated, use those tokens. Otherwise split contiguous input into groups of 8 digits from the right so a ragged leading group is preserved.

Interpret each token as base-2
Read every group with the binary digit set (0–1) to recover an integer code point.

Map each code to a character
Valid Unicode code points fall between 0 and 0x10FFFF. Values outside that range are rejected rather than producing garbage text.

Join the characters
Concatenate the decoded characters in order. Leading zeros in the numeric input do not change the resulting character.

Basics
About these bases
base-2Binary
Binary is base-2, using only the digits 0 and 1. It maps directly to the on/off states of digital circuits.
Every bit is a power of two. Reading from the right, positions are 2⁰, 2¹, 2², and so on. Contiguous binary is often grouped in 8-bit bytes so each group lines up with one character code.

- When reading binary by hand, mark groups of 4 bits for hex or 3 bits for octal — those groupings eliminate most conversion mistakes.
- Multi-character text is converted per character. A whole word is not treated as a single giant integer.
- Invalid digits stop the conversion with a clear error instead of silently skipping characters.
