What text to binary means
A text to binary conversion turns each character into its numeric code, then writes that code in base-2.
This is useful when you need to inspect how text is stored, debug encodings, or embed character values in a format that only accepts binary digits. The converter processes one character at a time and separates results with spaces so multi-character strings stay readable.

How to convert text to binary

Start with the first character
Work left to right through the string. Each character is converted independently, so “Hi” becomes two numeric values rather than one combined number.

Find its Unicode code point
Common Latin characters use the same numbers as classic ASCII — for example H is 72 and i is 105. Accented letters, symbols, and emoji use larger code points.

Rewrite the code in binary
Express that integer in base-2. This tool pads each result to 8 digits so byte-aligned values line up cleanly.

Repeat and separate with spaces
Continue for every remaining character. Space-separated output makes it obvious where one character ends and the next begins.

Text is a sequence of characters. Each character has a numeric code point that can be encoded into any numeric base.
This converter uses Unicode code points (ASCII for common English characters). Multi-character strings are converted character by character, with numeric values separated by spaces.

base-2Binary
Binary is base-2, using only the digits 0 and 1. It maps directly to the on/off states of digital circuits.
Every bit is a power of two. Reading from the right, positions are 2⁰, 2¹, 2², and so on. Contiguous binary is often grouped in 8-bit bytes so each group lines up with one character code.
